The Corporate Cup Competition
is a “race within a race,” allowing runners representing the companies
they work for to compete with other company teams. Originally started
in 1984 by GE Aerospace, in Utica, NY with the Utica YMCA, the
Corporate Cup has seen great participation, with plenty of intense, but
friendly, competition! Date Sunday, July 10, 2011 Start Times 15K Run 8:00 AM Start Location ECR International, 2201 Dwyer Ave., Utica, N.Y. Registration Form and Rules Download the form and rules, and mail in. Rules and application are found at http://www.boilermaker-corpcup.com/ccup2011.pdf The Deadline for team
entry is July 1, 2011.
Team Gift and Roster Pickup (for the Team Captain or their representative) Health & Fitness Expo Friday, July 8 & Saturday, July 9 Teams consist of full-time and part-time employees and are based on company size. To enter, designate a company team captain and have them review the Corporate Cup Team Rules and fill in a Corporate Cup Team Application and Roster. (See the Official Rules for detailed team requirements.) There is no charge to enter a corporate team, but team members must still register and pay their individual entry fee for the Boilermaker. Benefits The Corporate Cup competition is a great way to build team spirit and increase the enthusiasm of your employees. Training for the Corporate Cup keeps workers physically active, contributes to lowered incremental health related costs and provides a fun, motivating, camaraderie building activity. If you haven’t participated as a company team before, get your company’s runners organized and enter a team. Here is some information about what is involved. ![]() Charity Thanks to the Boilermaker Road Race and our Sponsor, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, your team may benefit a charity! Each team will select a non-profit organization of their choice. At the Corporate Cup Awards Night, three non-profit organizations will be selected at random and awarded a cash prize. Each team submitted may designate a charity, and each charity submitted will be placed into the drawing. A charity, in this case, is an organization that is organized and operated for purposes that are beneficial to the public interest and is designated as a charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. (Verification web address: http://www.irs.gov/app/pub-78/ ) Only one prize will be awarded to a charity. Since many teams may designate the same charity, duplicate awards will be discarded and the drawing will continue until three separate awards are made. Awards Awards are presented to the fastest teams, but every team is a winner. There are divisions for small (under 250 employees), medium (under 1000 employees), and large businesses as well as women’s, coed and master’s teams, so that every team has a chance against similar competition. Corporate Cup Gift Once again, the Corporate Cup is offering a team gift for each company runner. The Corporate “Cup” mug, exclusive for team runners, has been a treasured item for team members for many years! Team captains should pick up this years’ teams’ gift at the Corporate Cup Booth at the Health and Fitness Expo before the race. Team Singlets If you are interested in purchasing team singlets, we will be offering singlets with the Boilermaker logo on the back and will be happy to screen your company’s logo on the front. This is a great way to make your company visible on the streets and show your company spirit!
